Spooooooktacular Dinner Party

I don’t know about you but I love getting into the holiday spirit! I feel like Halloween is just the kickstart to it all! We recently had friends over for a Dinner Party and it was all spooky theme! So I wanted to share with you just in time for Halloween this week!

We started off with some spoooooky appetizers! We made an entire charcuterie spread which included “mummy” brie! See picture below.

The mummy brie was such a hit and it was so easy to make! All I did was buy the brie and a puff pastry. I cut strips of the puff pastry, wrapped it around the brie, and then baked it for 20 minutes at 400 degrees! I put some raspberry jelly for blood and olives for the eyes! Sooo spoooooky!

Another spooky appetizer we served was spider queso! See the picture below!

I just used bell peppers for the legs! You could really put any dip in the bread!

For dinner, it was difficult to find spooooooky things. So we just made bacon wrapped green beans, mac ‘n cheese, and beef tenderloin sliders! Simple yet so good!

Finally, I made a graveyard Oreo Dirt Cake! It turned out so spooooky! See below!

I mean how cool is this?! I can’t decide if this was my favorite or the mummy brie!

I also made a Fall Sangria which was so good! It was a quick and easy recipe. Just six cups apple cider, one bottle of Pinot Grigio, and one cup of Caramel Vodka! So tasty! And of course I had spooooooky cups to serve it in!

Overall, it was a great night spent with friends! We recently moved into a new house and our neighbors have become great friends so fast! We are beyond thankful and blessed!

Whoa, this might be my longest blog post yet!

It is that time…go fill up your glass of prosecco!

Preserving your Fall Gourds!

As always, DISCLAIMER!! I did not come up with this way to preserve gourds. I searched it on the internet and I am just sharing what I thought was doable and easy!

We all know Fall is here! It seems like all of the Fall decorations, clothes, etc. have been out since August! Way too early if you ask me! This week Julianna and I went to the Apple Orchard. We sampled apples, played on the playground, and of course bought a “few” things.

I knew I wanted to get gourds at some point this Fall. Each year I am hesitant, though, because they never last. They rot and look gross! So I knew this year I was going to make an effort to preserve them in order for them to last until Thanksgiving. So to the internet I went!

Some methods were easier than others. I went with the easiest option. Here are the things you will need:

  1. bleach
  2. water
  3. vaseline
  4. tub/kitchen sink

I chose to just use my kitchen sink to soak the gourds in. But that is up to you! Okay, first step: fill up your kitchen sink with 10 parts water and 1 part bleach. Put the gourds face down and set the timer for ten minutes! Depending on how big your gourds are you may need to rotate them and do another ten minutes. See my picture below:

Nothing fancy!

Next Step: Once you are done soaking the gourds place them on a paper towel. Dry them off. Then, rub vaseline all over them using a cloth.

Last Step: Let them “dry” and that is it!!

It was so easy! The only thing- we will have to wait and see if this method actually works! I will keep y’all posted! Here is my final product:

It is about that time. Go fill up your glass! I know I am!

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Who else always leaves one or two bananas just on the table or counter to turn brown? ME! I have a tendency to always leave that one or two to just “ripen” and then never use it. I even am a smoothie girl and sometimes let the bananas go too long that I won’t even put it in my smoothie. I know I sound totally ridiculous.

So this morning Julianna was eating her breakfast, and there was that one lonely brown banana on our kitchen table. So I decided to use it to make muffins!

The recipe called for two ripe bananas so I cut it in half. (I only had one) The recipe also called for blueberries but I put chocolate chips in! We whipped them right up!

These are ideal for breakfast (obviously), snack, or on the go! Which is perfect for adults or toddlers! They are pretty healthy, too! Disclaimer- not perfectly healthy but also not the worst.

Here is the link I got the recipe from- keeping in mind I did chocolate chips and cut it half.

And there you have it! So easy and good! Also, the perfect solution to not wasting that last banana or two!

It is about that time! Fill up your glass!
