At Home Gel Manicure

Well it has been awhile since I did a Blog Post! I took a break from blogging/social media, but have been back to it now for a few weeks. With everything going on and not being able to go out, I figured it was the perfect time to dedicate a post to an at home gel manicure!

Full disclosure (as always) I am no expert. This is what I have found that works for me!

Here are a few tips before you get started:

Tip 1: Less is more with gel. Do not use too much polish.

Tip 2: Start your manicure by wiping your nails with rubbing alcohol and end it with wiping them again.

Tip 3: Try to avoid getting polish on your cuticles. This leads to easy peeling.

First off, you need an LED UV Nail Lamp. Second, prep your nails like you normally would i.e. file, clip, cuticles, etc. Then follow these guidelines below:

Using a cotton ball rub each nail with rubbing alcohol.

Use the gel base coat and put hand under lamp for 60 seconds.

Put your first coat of color on your nail (remember less is more) and put it under the lamp for 60 seconds.

Apply your second coat of color and you guessed it put it under the lamp for 60 seconds.

Lastly, put on your gel top coat. You will then put it under the lamp for two rounds of 60 seconds.

Finally, rub each nail with another round of rubbing alcohol. This solidifies the gel nail polish.

And that is it! It lasts just as long as if you went to the salon! It has taken me awhile to find a good base and top coat. I found all my items on amazon! See this link for all products!

As always, go get that glass of prosecco!

Spooooooktacular Dinner Party

I don’t know about you but I love getting into the holiday spirit! I feel like Halloween is just the kickstart to it all! We recently had friends over for a Dinner Party and it was all spooky theme! So I wanted to share with you just in time for Halloween this week!

We started off with some spoooooky appetizers! We made an entire charcuterie spread which included “mummy” brie! See picture below.

The mummy brie was such a hit and it was so easy to make! All I did was buy the brie and a puff pastry. I cut strips of the puff pastry, wrapped it around the brie, and then baked it for 20 minutes at 400 degrees! I put some raspberry jelly for blood and olives for the eyes! Sooo spoooooky!

Another spooky appetizer we served was spider queso! See the picture below!

I just used bell peppers for the legs! You could really put any dip in the bread!

For dinner, it was difficult to find spooooooky things. So we just made bacon wrapped green beans, mac ‘n cheese, and beef tenderloin sliders! Simple yet so good!

Finally, I made a graveyard Oreo Dirt Cake! It turned out so spooooky! See below!

I mean how cool is this?! I can’t decide if this was my favorite or the mummy brie!

I also made a Fall Sangria which was so good! It was a quick and easy recipe. Just six cups apple cider, one bottle of Pinot Grigio, and one cup of Caramel Vodka! So tasty! And of course I had spooooooky cups to serve it in!

Overall, it was a great night spent with friends! We recently moved into a new house and our neighbors have become great friends so fast! We are beyond thankful and blessed!

Whoa, this might be my longest blog post yet!

It is that time…go fill up your glass of prosecco!

Preserving your Fall Gourds!

As always, DISCLAIMER!! I did not come up with this way to preserve gourds. I searched it on the internet and I am just sharing what I thought was doable and easy!

We all know Fall is here! It seems like all of the Fall decorations, clothes, etc. have been out since August! Way too early if you ask me! This week Julianna and I went to the Apple Orchard. We sampled apples, played on the playground, and of course bought a “few” things.

I knew I wanted to get gourds at some point this Fall. Each year I am hesitant, though, because they never last. They rot and look gross! So I knew this year I was going to make an effort to preserve them in order for them to last until Thanksgiving. So to the internet I went!

Some methods were easier than others. I went with the easiest option. Here are the things you will need:

  1. bleach
  2. water
  3. vaseline
  4. tub/kitchen sink

I chose to just use my kitchen sink to soak the gourds in. But that is up to you! Okay, first step: fill up your kitchen sink with 10 parts water and 1 part bleach. Put the gourds face down and set the timer for ten minutes! Depending on how big your gourds are you may need to rotate them and do another ten minutes. See my picture below:

Nothing fancy!

Next Step: Once you are done soaking the gourds place them on a paper towel. Dry them off. Then, rub vaseline all over them using a cloth.

Last Step: Let them “dry” and that is it!!

It was so easy! The only thing- we will have to wait and see if this method actually works! I will keep y’all posted! Here is my final product:

It is about that time. Go fill up your glass! I know I am!

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Who else always leaves one or two bananas just on the table or counter to turn brown? ME! I have a tendency to always leave that one or two to just “ripen” and then never use it. I even am a smoothie girl and sometimes let the bananas go too long that I won’t even put it in my smoothie. I know I sound totally ridiculous.

So this morning Julianna was eating her breakfast, and there was that one lonely brown banana on our kitchen table. So I decided to use it to make muffins!

The recipe called for two ripe bananas so I cut it in half. (I only had one) The recipe also called for blueberries but I put chocolate chips in! We whipped them right up!

These are ideal for breakfast (obviously), snack, or on the go! Which is perfect for adults or toddlers! They are pretty healthy, too! Disclaimer- not perfectly healthy but also not the worst.

Here is the link I got the recipe from- keeping in mind I did chocolate chips and cut it half.

And there you have it! So easy and good! Also, the perfect solution to not wasting that last banana or two!

It is about that time! Fill up your glass!

Cheers, Megan xoxo

My Favorite “New” Beauty Products!

If you have read some of my other posts, you know I am ALL about products. Less is not more in my opinion. I have recently added some new products to the line up that I am obsessing over. So of course I wanted to share!

First up is my new concealer. It is Tarte’s Shape Tape Contour Concealer. I am in love! It brightens my under eyes and covers up pimples so well. It is on the pricey side, but well worth it! I got it with a coupon at Ulta for 20% off. Sign up for the emails if you haven’t already. Here is the link.

Next up, Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I do not use this every day but when I need my eyeshadow to last longer than usual, I apply! It really does work like potion, as it says in its name. It goes on so smooth and I really see a difference in my eyeshadow. Not only does it POP, it lasts/stays fresh all day! Get it here.

Third is Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara! This mascara makes my lashes long and full! I felt like I could never really find the best mascara. But, I will look no more because this product is a dream! Here it is.

Next, is Elf’s Smooth and Set Eye Powder. It is so affordable and works beyond amazing! I got the color sheer which is white. But, it goes on so flawlessly and leaves my skin not shiny at all. It also sets my concealer extremely well. I am in love with this product and did I mention the price?! (I know I did!) Click to shop.

Last up, my face moisturizer. I’ve been using Simple Hydrating Gel Cream. Now, I shared this awhile back in my all time fave beauty products. If you watched my Instagram stories, I mentioned I had only been using it for about a week. Now that I have been using it for awhile, I can officially say how much I love it. It is so hydrating in all the right spots. I also literally use a pea size amount! Go for it.

I hope you enjoyed my round up! Now, go get some La Marca!

Cheers, Megan xoxo

4th of July Looks!

I am starting to get really excited for the 4th of July! Julianna is old enough this year to actually do some fun activities! I don’t think we will take her to see fireworks, but I do think we will picnic and playground it!

Here are my favorite 4th of July looks! Hopefully it will inspire you!

This first look is simple, basic, cute, and patriotic! Perfect for any 4th of July activity!

Tee from Old Navy

This second look is all from LOFT! The tank is so soft and the shorts are super comfy! I tied the tank to the side, but you could tuck it in. You could also pair this tank with jean shorts! So cute!

Okay ya’ll I saved my absolute favorite for last! (I know, I am only doing three looks because I could go on forever if I didn’t stop!) Lastly, a romper from the Pink Lily Boutique. Check out their website, THE BEST! I will most likely be wearing this one on the 4th of July! This romper would be great for anything that you do on the 4th!

Side Note- you could really wear anything red, white and blue (obviously)! I also think gingham and white shorts would be cute, too!

Happy Fourth of July! Now go celebrate with a glass of Prosecco!

Cheers, Megan xoxo
